Michael Komm: TRAVEL
Michael Komm:
In mongolian steppes one can encounter goats, sheep, yurtas and sometimes also sculptures. These come from two different historic periods: (i) 13-14th century (the Mongolian empire) and (ii) from the 7th century, so-called Turkic period. The statues were used to mark graves of important aristocrats and warriors. The sculptures are still being worshipped by the Mongolians, who do not allow for their relocation to museum. So, if one wants to see them in real, it is necessary to undergo a long trip through the endless steppes of south Mongolia.
